Sensum With his debut album released on ZMA Rec. earlier this year We talked about his debut album, the scene in Australia, 1. Who are you and where are you from exactly? My name is Russ, and i live in Sydney Australia. 2. Tell us a bit about your normal day life? Just the norm ? 3. What do you think of today's scene generally? What direction is it taking, what moments do you like or dislike? The scene is forever changing which is a good thing. evolving is good. i dont think its taking any specific direction - with the mix of styles being played at parties at the moment, you cannot tell which way its heading anyway.
4.What do you think of the growing number of the labels, artists and the quality of the music released nowadays? Yes, there are alot of labels being created right now, but i guess it grows with the amount of new artists which are also being created constantly.
5.Your debut album "NOCTURNAL TRANSMISSIONS" is out on ZMA since june , what can we expect next? Yeah thats right - you can expect some deep driving percussive day/night hard prog.
6.Will you be touring in Europe or somewhere else around the globe the next time? No tours in Europe yet, but would be a great experience. At the moment i am booked to play live at Earthdance 2005 in New Caledonia.
7. What's your opinion about the straight melting of styles at the moment ? Producers and DJs from totally different major styles get closer together e.g. André Absolut´s Rmx of Sub 6? Here we come back to the 'forever changing' scene - i think its a welcomed idea, i like it. it gives different perspectives of a certain style. 8.What are your origins how did you come to electronic music? I got into electronic music in 1990-91 with particular interest in hardcore such as stuff from the Rotterdam crew, then gradually over the years my taste, you could say, matured. Started playing with trance late 90's early 2000. 9.Why did you decide to become dj? Dunno really, i just kinda fell into it. 10.Which djs and acts/ musicians have influenced your style? Definately Morphem, particularly his segment stuff. Noma, Shiva Chandra, Haldolium and Bitmonx. 11.What was the best or funniest experience in your career? Would have to be the morning after playing at the Natraj Temple - 12.What was the worst, Probably when i flew into Munich and they had put my record case on a different flight - didnt see them again for another 3 days ! 13.What is your Havent really had the time to get into much new music these days since i'm busy with production and live work, but heres 2 that 'put a smile on my dial'
14.What are your plans, I have 2 trax coming out on the next V/A compilation with ZMA, 15.Regarding Australia, what´s up there actually!? Where are the ppl going to beside the big internationally known festivals? Even tho we are a looong way from the rest of you guys,
