>>Who are you and where are you from !?

My name is Guilherme Machado, Im from Rio de Janeiro Brazil.

>>Why did you decide to become DJ´s and start producing - What was your
>>intention !?

Most part of my life I´ve been a musician or at least with contact with
music. When I was about 7 years old I started playing keyboards(some
classical piano) and reading music .
Soon enough I saw that it wasnt my thing. Then when I was about 13 I started
listening to alternative rock and some heavy metal so I got in to playing
the guitar. Little after that I got into
a Punk/Hardcore band playing the guitar. The band didnt work out and I got
into 2 other bands playing the Drums(although Ive never bought my own). I
learned playing the Drums with my bands´
Drumers and just messing around. I started listnening to electronic music in
the age of 14 when I went into some clubs listening mostly to techno ,house
and Drum n Bass. Soon enough I met Psy TRance
In a club called Bat Cave that was like the first one like that(just full on
trance) in Rio. My brother started organizing some raves here and playing in
many of them so I met many djs and
since I was always in touch with music I decided that I should start
djing(more or less 3 years ago)just for fun. Not very long after that I
played at the first Rave in a wonderful place
called Chapada Diamantina in Bahia. It was carnaval and I played with my
brother´s case cos I didnt know I would get a chance to play. About 2 and a
half years ago I started producing music on fruity loops and made one song
as Ozonrevac
then I remixed it with Cicero which was our first track as Neurose. We were
only eperimenting stuff at the time and didnt take it very seriously but as
we started getting better we began to
get addicted to it. I started playing the bongo cos I thought that It would
b perfect for my live presentations since ive played the drums and had some
notion on percussion .
Soon enough I saw that my kind of trance was Progressive and minimal trance.
Now I only do that and Progressive House(Gui Machado) because they are the
two styles that I was more related to.
I started a Prog trance project with cicero called TRiballis and some other
with other friends(Oozik With René, Radioactive with Matera, one with my
brother and his girlfriend(no name yet) +René, Methysticin with Cicero and
René)
I enjoy making music with friends because you end up learning a lot and
having a great time. My intention is to show the world my music and to try
and help grow the small progressive scene here in Brasil.

>>What has happened!? Why are you OZONREVAC now !? Give us an overview over
>>all the details - don´t forget the real matters ;)

Ozonrevac is the name I came up with and I stick to it untill now. It means
Cave-like in portuguese but backwards. Because when I began listening to
trance, the ones I most like (the darker ones in that time) I called
cave-like. I liked the way it sounded like too.

>>What are you doing when you´re not Djing and making music !?

I was always a sports fan so I Surf and Skateboard in most of my free time.
But right now im studiyng to get on product and visual design university.
Hehehe I failed 2 years on school so im only graduating this year. Apart
from that I like to hang out with friends
girls, dance, just have fun!

>>What does it mean for you playing and producing things!?

To me it means that I express myself with the music that makes me dance and
try to create a groovy atmosphere to the people on the dancefloor or
listening at home to a cd.

>>What´s up in your local scene !? What Party Crews and so on ... !?

The local scene here in Rio is not very big. Not every weekend there is a
party and most are not so good. Another thing is that most of brazil´s
parties are about 70% Full-on although there are some very good(parties)
especially when it comes to the beauty of the place where it happens.
There is always a lot of nature when the party has good people organizing.
THe best party in Rio in my opinion was the Satori Private party , It was
organized by my sister and some friends and it was on a wonderfull island
that a friend of ours owns but unfortunately has to rent most of the time.

>>What are your origins!? How did you come to Trancemusic and your first
>>gigs !?

see 2nd question!

>>What do you think of the today's scene in general? What trends is it
>>taking, what moments you like or dislike?

I have to say Im not familiar with the world scene, only with what my
friends tell me. But here in Brasil its growing more and more every year but
its very fresh from what I know. Soon there will be more labels and artists
althought there are many already.

>>What do you think of the growing number of the labels, artists and
>>websites like WWW.FREDERIKFLANGER.COM & WWW.PSYCHEDLIX.DE and the quality
>>of the music released nowadays?

The number labels and artist growing is very good and bad at the same time.
Because some people will open up labels without knowing what good quality
means so a lot of shit ends up getting released. Your site is killer man it
promotes new artists and shows respect to the older ones. Sites like yours
are fundamental for the scene to grow in a good direction.

>>What are your favorites for the moment and what other (non trance) music
>>do you like?

Xv Kilist, Paste, Buzz, Timetech, Auricular, Frogacult, Space Safari, Ticon,
POTS and many more. Also Dj Nukem vs Chab, Marc o Tool and Lexicon Avenue
and more stuff like that too. Non-trance I listen to lots of things cos i
like many different styles from blues to jazz, to ska, to metal, to hip hop,
to almost everything
that has good production or musicians behing it. Stevie Ray Vaughn, The
Clash, Rancid, Jimi Hendrix, Pink Floyd, Gilberto Gil, Sublime, Planet Hemp,
Beatles, Pantera, Cypress Hill and many other stuff have been much influence
to me. Also some eletronic artists like Aphex Twin, Kraftwerk, Massive
Attack and many more.

>>What was your craziest Partyscnenery !?

Probably the Satori Party on Mandala Island here in Rio (Angra dos Reis), My
friend is the owner and it is rented for popular parties so the place
already has a party structure, and its an island just for us!

>>What are your favourite releases/events until now !?

Timetech - Notes
Paste - Blow Out
Vibrasphere - Lime Structure
MDMA - Under Construction compilation
Haldolium - Be Real

>>Which DJs and acts and Parties have influenced your style?

DJ Alhad + Bitmonx Live + DJ Llopis at Brazilians Trance Festival.

>>What are your PROJECTS / SIDEPROJECTS at the moment !?

Ozonrevac(Me)
Gui Machado(Me Prog House) only starting out ,
Triballis (with cicero),
Neurose(with cicero) although we dont have any new tracks
Oozik(with Rene)
Methysticin(with rené + cicero)
Radioactive(with Matera)
CHillum (with my sister making chill out)

--------->>What´s the spirit of The Gui !?---------
Dont stop The beat!!! Party till u fall and always have Fun!

>>What´s your opinion about the straight melting of Styles at the moment !?
>>Producers and Dj´s from totally diffrent mayorstyles get closer together
>>!?

I think its good so the music doesnt stay the same, all the time evolving.

>>What is your TOP TEN of DRINKS this summer !?

Caipirinha--->Pinga(tradicional brasilian drink) with Lemon and Sugar
Vodka + Sprite or Fanta Citrus
WHisky
Champagne
Pinga
Catuaba (Red Whine with guarana and some other things)
Tequila
Non alcoholic ---> Açaí!!! Killer and lots of energy

>>What is your TOP of LP this summer !?

Paste - Blowout
Vibrasphere - Lime Structure
Irresistible Meltdown 2 compilation

>>What is your TOP of EP this summer !?

Phony Orphants vs Antix - Saturday Candy and Chicago Collins
Buzz - Breath It
Auricular - Bucketgroover

>>What is your Opinion about the exisiting Peer -to- Peer programs. Do they
>>really kill our music, because we´re such a small scene or do they only
>>give unknown Artitst a chance to get ... ?

They are wonderfull in the sense that u meet all kinds of people from all
over the world and make many important contacts. For Example I think I
wouldnt be releasing a track in a non-brasilian label
so soon if it wasnt for this. But there is the problem of the traders and
Trader/hackers, but to teverything there is a bad side so we just have to
live with that.

>>I started producing too, tell me and the other newbies a bit about the
>>software you´re using - which is the best software in your opinion to
>>start making electronical music!

Id like to say that It wonderful to start out in fruity loops and some
people kick ass in it cos its not the software...its the ears and creativity
that matter but when i moved on to logic I have to say it was
a turning point in my music production, and once uve learned it u have no
boudaries. The same thing probably goes with cubase SX or Sonar 2 and other
first quality sequencers. I love most Emagic synths
like Es-1 Es-2 Evp and etc but many other r killers for example Native
Instruments is a killer synths factory heheheh thats why I named a track in
tribute to them. I recommend buying some future music and Computer Music
Magazines cos they come with sample cds and also some vstis . And remember
to be patient. When time comes everyone will tell u, dont let u fool
yourself thinking that its good enough when its not.

>>What do you use to play live!?

When I can I use a laptop to play most parts already sequenced but since i
dont have one sometimes I have to use a cd instead with "live versions" of
my tracks with some removed elements cos I play the bongos and
my virus b synth on top of that and i try to improvise every time so that no
one will ever listen to the exact same thing.

>>And what´s you´re studio equipment at the moment !?

My Amd 1,4 ghz computer with Audigy Souncard, My korg poly 800 synth, Access
Virus B, My LP Bongos, Non-acurrate CAmbridge Soundworks Speakers. But Im
very close to buying monitors and a better soundcard.
