>>Who are you and where are you from !?
"we are 2 guys, basically.
Cujo A. Hora & Barney Jacobs.
we have been producing Cujorius One tracks, with friends and other side project members in this name as well.
So basically we are also Nikolas Titti & Yukio Bergholdt"

>>Why did you decide to become DJ´s and start producing
- What was your intention !?
"There was initially no intention.
We had been buying records, and spinning at local parties for about 1 year,
when we tried making our first track.
the first many tracks, was very un-serious
. and not really "pro", so it was after many years of dj'ing and semi-track-producing we finally got an idea of what to do, and started making music.
we found worth playing ourselves at a party.

>>>>What has happened!? Why are you THE CUJORIUS ONE now !? Give us an overview over all the details - don´t forget the real matters ;)
"Why we are Cujorius One?????

well, we are not ONLY Cujorius One.
we also have acts like:
Handbuch
Tenka
Front Minimâle
Anormal Dong
Yawn & Doublehead

so we have quite a lot of things to look for at the moment.
Trying to make a Front Minimâle & Handbuch album.
as a follow up on the Ep's coming out in this period.
We haven't really started. So it's gonna take quite a while.
then Tenka is dead, because of some internal problems. the we have started making more serious chill & strange stuff with Anormal Dong.
Yawn stays hard, still looking for the first release.
Doublehead is just for fun, so it's gonna take a while to get something out there.

>>What are you doing when you´re not Djing and making music !?

"Cujo:
I work, to be able to afford making music only,
trying to study music to get in on university, studying sound engineering"

"Barney:
I Work as a carpenter, making money for the family"

"Yukio:
Studies Multimedia"

"Nikolas:
Works, and plays football"

>>What does it mean for you playing and producing things!?
"It means everything. our whole lives are built up around this.
we don't sit in the studio 24/7 as we used to. but the gigs, the parties, the dj'ing the sitting and producing-thing.
and just working with sound in general is just something we cannot live without"

>>What are your PROJECTS / SIDEPROJECTS at the moment !?

Handbuch
Front Minimâle
Anormal Dong
Yawn & Doublehead.

>>What´s up in your local scene !? What Party Crews and so on ... !?
"The Danish scene is pretty dead.
mostly turning into housy tunes and stuff, and there is hardly any parties left.
and the ones that are left are pretty carctel run, so it's not just good acts who good booked.
it's the dj'ing who have good friends or dj's who someone owes money or something. usually that way.

>>What are your origins!? How did you come to Trancemusic and your first gigs !?
"we have been listening to electronic music for years now.
all kinds. and we still listen to nearly everything. ok mainly trance.
but electronic music in general is really something we like.

Cujo listens mainly to Braindance, drill'n'bass and stuff like that.
Barney is more the harder industrial type. both we both enjoy the crossover.
Trancemusic was discovered during a period of prodigy and chemical brothers,
back in 1995 or something.
we got totally hooked.
after having been to some serious house parties and dancing to that, we had been listening to trance,
but never been to a serious party before.
then we accidentally ended up at one and it took 1 second for us to fall in love
and just go out and buy 1000 records :-)"

>>What do you think of the today's scene in general? What trends is it taking, what moments you like or dislike?
"In general we don't like the trance scene as it is.
it's run very unprofessional, and too much labels coming and going.
too many labels not paying money to the acts.
we have been working for one as well, and stopped the co-operation because of money problems like this.
even the bigger labels seem to not be able to pay at the moment!

The turning in the scene, into the progressive housy styles are good i think.
but it can be too much. it's like the danish scene is 100% turning that way and not staying open minded and focussed on the old style or other styles.
mainly in denmark it's 1 style and nothing else.
we don't appreciate this very much"

>>What do you think of the growing number of the labels, artists and websites like FREDERIKFLANGER.com and the quality of the music released nowadays?
"Basically we have answered this.
but Frederikflanger.com is nice.

more sites like this could be needed.
isratrance, psynews and other online places like this. is a great place for people to hangout, with a crossover of 100000 different styles of electronic music.

In general i think the quality of the music coming out has dropped SO LOW!
im not saying im better, but in general- the increasing number of labels popping up,
most of them mainly only releasing music from their friends
(which is also ok)
but a kind of professional view is also needed. We are not against fruityloops at all.
but many fruity tracks are not very well produced. as for reason and other programs.
it has nothing to do with that it's software.
but many people make a lot of tracks in simple programs like this (it is possible though, to make super nice and cool tracks in these programs)
but a lot of labels release tracks, which we personally don't find well enough produced.

the idea of the track and the buildup can be super nice,
and there is a lot of talent out there, the production level has just fallen,
into what we would call "low" now.
unfortunatly.

>>What are your favorites for the moment and what other (non trance) music do you like?
"Cujo:
I dig a lot of Aphex Twin, Squarepusher, Volsoc, Volum & SOC lately.

Barney:
I still dig older front 242, Dirk Ivens, BassKitten, Jean Paul Bondy.
Tracks like that, mainly shifting beats and other things like that.."

>>What was your craziest Partyscnenery !?
"mmm. There was a party in Bochum once, with ALOT of people.
was a super nice party, we made a killer setup for the party,
and the main-dat with our beats didn't work, so we couldn't mix it, so we had to dj instead..
(SUCKED)

>>What are your releases/events until now !?
So far we have around 15, different releases. some compilations only with 1 track. but some vinyls with 2 or 3. the album with 9. so it's a lot more tracks released than this.

>>When will you play the next times in Germany !?
Your Gig at DRUIDDANCE and the time in my car are hopefully not the last time in Germany ;) !!!

"Of course it wasn't the last time,
we play Live in Oberhausen on the 4'th of august, with Genetic Spin & Loopier.
else we don't have anything planned at the moment"

>>What´s your opinion about the straight melting of Styles at the moment !?
Producers and Dj´s from totally diffrent mayorstyles get closer together !?
"We love the melting together things, and the acts and dj's getting together making new styles.
in the older days, techno was techno. some styles was more appreciated.
but no matter the style people would dance.
not it's again like "only trance or nothing" it sux a bit i think. so i love this new kinds of styles coming out. making the things more interesting.
Of course not all styles can me digged as much as others,
but in general i dig all kinds of music, so don't understand why people can't just dig the music instead of saying
"i hate this" and when it's trance ONLY they say "i love this" people should be more open.

>>What is your TOP TEN of DRINKS this year !?

1. Smirnoff Ice
2. Raki
3. Smirnoff Ice
4. Red Smirnoff
5. Blue Smirnoff
6. Gin-Tonic (for the slow days)
7. Beer? nearly all kinds.
8. Anything with Alcohol
9. Pina Colada (always nice)
10.Smirnoff Ice (did i say that?)
that's the ones we drink mostly
even though a good beer always seems to be nr.1 :)

>>What is your TOP of LP this summer !?

Jesus christ. i don't remember.

1-10. Yumade - Klanguage

>>What is your TOP of EP this summer !?

1. Genetic Spin - Lowrider (Creamcrop)

2. yumade - traktorpelle (databass)

mainly.
many things have been released. and mainly all the stuff we got as dj's come as promos or demos.
So actually we need more time to chew on a question like this.

>>What is your Opinion about the exisiting Peer -to- Peer programs.
Do they really kill our music, because we´re such a small scene or do they only give unknown Artitst a chance to get ... ?

"Depends. in one way, they kill the music..
but they also open up a whole new world.
but it has made a lot of people ignorant and not interested in buying music anymore..... ok, i blame the small scene and the 100000000 too many labels, are too blame as well.

>>I started producing too, tell me and the other newbies a bit about the software you´re using -
which is the best software in your opinion to start making electronical music!
"We run Cubase. which we sequenze in. for sound editing, mastering, effects and so on. we use Wavelab, Soundforge & Cool Edit Pro.
each has something unique to it, so each of them can do something different to the sound.
then for beats to be cut up, we use Recycle. which we then sequenze in cubase and edit there.
maybe add alittle orangevocoder to the loops there. then sometimes for easy breakbeat programming we use fruityloops, and export from there and into recycle then use it in cubase again.

We just bought a new computer.
a 2,266 Ghz pentium 4
with 1 gb ram
just to keep up with the high amount of tracks in the sequenzing process and the 16 midi channels I/O that we run as well, besides that.
so this kind of sequenzing, in modern sequenzers use a lot of computer power unfortunatly.
we wish to buy a Mac Laptop and run sequenzing there, when we are on the road.
combined with a fat MOTU 8 output soundcard which we intend to buy, we can run harddisc recording from there. and have a much nicer live act from there"

>>What do you use to play live!?

"Before, we used to have a Dat player, with some basic beats,
we brought some synths, and a cd to mix in the mixer.
so we could have it all in a few tracks and so that we could remove parts of the tracks and add effects during the live gig.
we wish to have a harddisc recorder and run several channels just for the basics in the tracks, and mix in the synths and the samples.
which would make it much more fun and also more advanced for the audience to listen to.
but like we said above, we wish to buy a mac laptop, and use this as a hd recorder and play from there. if only we could afford it!!!

Would also be nice at boring moments in airports, or in the train.
or just plain waiting time. just to sit, watch a movie or to just sit and produce there, would be so nice!

>>And what´s you´re studio equipment at the moment !?

"we have a big studiomaster p7 mixer. with 40 channels. quite noisy, but nice.

synths:

Access Virus B
Nord Rack 2
Waldorf Q
Korg Ms2000
Studio Electronics ATC-1
Jomox X-base

Samplers:

Emu E5000 Ultra
Akai S.2000

Effects:

Zoom Studio
Alesis Midiverp4
Mam Resonator
Mam Vocoder
Ensoniq DP/4

we used to own also:
a jp8000 and a Korg Z1.
but we sold those. pretty stupid. but we did. but it's ok . we like the setup we run now! :-)

A LOT OF BUTTONS! :-) hehe
